Hi Gary
My name is Frank W Teachout and I saw your message on the Genealogy.com forum about Claude Teachout. I see you also got a response from Pat Teachout Donlin. She is the one who got me started in my genealogy research on the Teachouts just this February. She has been doing it for 20 some years and has some excellent information.
I thought you might be interested in another site that I have been working on recently. It is a free one called "findagrave.com" It has over 19 Million listings of graves in hundreds of cemeteries. You can do a search of a person by full name, by last name, state, or by cemetery listing. You can add cemeteries, people, pictures, or memorial messages. It is made up of volunteers who spend a lot of time walking the cemeteries adding listings. Many will respond to requests to take pictures of gravestones to add to the listing or memorial as they call it. I have added a few Teachouts including recently your great grandfather and grandfather. You can search by cemetery in this case Oaklawn cemetery in Stockbrige MI using the surname Teachout. I requested someone to take and addpictures of all the Teachouts they found there. The only ones I see no records on are B.T. Teachout and Jennifer Lee Teachout. They look to be gravestones of young people who died out of time as they are buried behind the older couples.
I did a little lookup on your line in case Pat hasn't filled you in yet. Here is what I believe it to be. Let me know if you see something wrong. We both came from John W Teachout born about 1770 in NY state then his son Wolcott Teachout Sr who was born 1810 in NY state. Almost if not all the Teachouts started from NY state after coming from Holland and then changing their name from Tietsoort(don't blame them a bit). Around 1849 his family moved to Michigan as many did around that time but some to Ohio(There is a Teachout Rd between Toledo and Sandusky as well as one in Lenawee county) and some to Ontario Canada.
John W Teachout, your great great great grandfather had a son, Wolcott Teachout Sr, who would be your great great grandfather. Wolcott Sr had a son Henry Teachout who started my line and another son who started your line, Charles Fremont Teachout, who was your great grandfather. Charles Fremont had a son, your grandfather, Claude James Teachout
who had a son Leo James Teachout who was your father. Then of course you, his son, Gary Teachout. All this came from Pat's genealogy file and I have verified mine but this is the first time I looked at yours. She and I both use FTM(Family Tree Maker)software from Amcestry.com. I also sometimes use a free one from Familysearch.org(LDS) called PAF 5 to look at things people send me before adding it to my FTM master file.
Well as one of my friends says "I didn't mean to say all that" but once I started it just all came out. I guess it is old age rambling as I am now 66. Having spent my first 63 years in SE Michigan and the last 3 in Florida. If you have anything you want to share or ask a question feel free to contact me or I am sure Pat will help with all her experience with the Teachouts.
Thanks for your time and God Bless
Frank W Teachout
