There are posting for a Benjamin Tedder who had children James W, Solomon, Anna, and I also found a Hanna associated with this bunch who were all in Wake County. Also was mentioned that Harmon was a son of this Benjamin, although I don't believe it.Am wondering if this Benjamin Tedder could be the same as the Benjamin who most likely was the brother of George Tedder and the son of Samuel Tetterton.
For example, the Benjamin Tedder, supposed father of the Wake County children, was supposed to be born around 1736 and this date is close to the date for the birth of George Tedder. The Benjamin, son of Samuel, could well be the father of Solomon and James W when you look at their birth dates.
We know that Benjamin Tedder was on the tax list in Beaufort, NC, in 1755, along with George.Benjamin, George and his two sons, and part of the Evans family later went to Dobbs County. On the Dobbs 1790 census we find George Sr and Jr and Thomas, but no Benjamin.
Benjamin, the supposed father of the Wake bunch, was supposed to be married to a Sarah Harmon.I found a Sarah, widow, with five daughters on the 1790 Dobbs census. However, the last name of this Sarah wasn't Tedder but an approximation of the last name that Benjamin, son of Samuel, was born with--Tuttlerton.Could this Sarah have been the widow of Benjamin, son of Samuel?
Could the Benjamin, son of Samuel, be the same Benjamin listed as the father of Solomon, James W, etc?We know that Solomon was a poor boy who was apprenticed.
