Hi Pam! Now I'll finish the story on the Tedrow fam. At 16 Joseph Hammod Dolman left home and ended up in Colorado. He went to work for the Reo Grand Railway.IN 1879 he sent for the girl he left behind in Belllevue,Ky. Francis Sharp Tedrow a frail young girl of 21. Born March 12,1858.
She was the daughter of Rubin Tedrow, a Frenchman and Sara Streeter a high German lady.
The Tedrows maintaned a very comfortable home for 3 son's and 4 daughter's.
Two son's served in the civil war,one in the blue and one in the gray. This was very hard onFran (as she was called). In 1867 Fran died and left a newdaughter.
Young Francis left a comfortable home and sister's and brother's to go to Denver. She married Joseph Dolman on June5, 1879. In 1881 they went back to Ky.where a little girl Lavina Pearl was born in 1882,Feb.12(my grandmother). In 1883 they began prep. to go to the far west to a little frontier town called Tacoma.
In a barn that had been rebuilt as a home to live in, a baby boy named Charles was born on May 8,1884.
In 1886 the family took government land in Roy,Wa. (Which is still there),they built a two room house. They cleared land and raised hops, a blite hit and killed the hops and they lost the farm because Joseph could'nt prove his claim. In 1897 they leftthe farm and moved to a little town called Edison (which is now South Tacoma). The family lived on Junet St. in a big two story house. Here on Aug.4,1897 Francis Sara was born, while her father was taking a wagon load of teachers and tourist up to Mt. Tacoma (Now Mt. Rainier).
The next child was Joseph in 1902. Who I know nothing about except, he lived in Portland Oregon.
The Rubin Tedrow's had 7 children : Rubin Jr. Jim Amelia Sara Lavina Francis All of this was written by my Great Aunt Francis Sara Dolman Thorp of Tacoma,Wa. before her death in 1997.
Francis Sharp Tedrow Dolman is buried at Mt. View cemetary in Lakewood ,Wa.So.of
Fran took music lessons and played for the church,a methodist.
