I don't have primary documentation on this first info, but this is a biographical entry from the _History of Greene County_, p. 570:
William Tedrow, farmer and stock-grower, was born in Somerset county, Penn., June 17, 1823, and is a son of Henry and Elizabeth (Johnson) Tedrow, who were of German and English origin.His father, who was a farmer, died in Aleppo Township in 1876.Of his family of nine children, the subject of this sketch is the second.He was reared on the home farm and received a limited education in the old log school-house of the district.He has made a success of his farming and stock-growing, and now owns 326 acres of well improved land.Mr. Tedrow was married in Somerset county, November 17, 1844, to Sarah A., daughter of Leonard and Elizabeth (Whipkey) Straight, who were of German and English extraction.Mrs. Tedrow died January 29, 1888.Their children are [I'm listing them vertically here, but maintaining the sketch's punctuation]
Mary E., wife of E. B. Moos;
Catherine A., wife of James Whipkey;
Minerva J., wife of M. Bayles.
Mr. Tedrow is a Democrat.He belongs to the Church of God, of which his deceased wife was also a member.
This next is just some loose very early research; my line turned out differently so I didn't take exhaustive notes, especially on later years.The Greene county records are not great (it wasn't cut from Washington until 1796), but the land records show:
LDS film #0864512"PA Greene Grantee index T-Z 1796-1941"
Tedrows in index -Albert, Charley, Clyde, Cecil, Elsie, Ethel, Eva, George W., Glenn W., Josie M., Samuel, Velma Margaret, William, Walter in 1900s.
Book 14, p. 90 = Tedrow William from Jeremiah Nicols estate 1849, Aleppo
Book 18, p. 271 = Elizabeth Tedro from George Hinerman & wife 1860, recd 24 Mar 1864, land in Aleppo twp 54 acres, 152 P [don't know what this last is]
Book 31, p. 410 = Tedrow George from estate of Henry Tedrow 1879, Springhill twp
Book 138, p. 111 [I question my citation of the book number] = John Tedrow mortgage from G. O. Earnest 1882, Springhill twp
LDS film #0864502 "PA Greene Index to Wills and Estates 1796-1967 S-Z"
The only Tedrows are after 1877, so I don't have notes, but they are likely yours, as the land records show estate dealings.
I believe Henry Tedrow and son William are the same as listed on the tax lists of property owners in Upper Turkey-Foot township in Somerset county in 1848.Whipkeys are also here: George, John, Samuel, Alexander, and another George.Also Leonard Strait is here (from bio above).
Sharon Clapp is over on the familyhistory.com boards looking for Catherine Tedrow Whipkey.Multiple listings so it takes a while to extract all her info, but check it out, it sure seems like the same Catherine.
That's all I have on this family, good luck in your research!
