“John Quince, son of Sanford and Sophronia Tefertiller, was born March 4, 1880 in Jack County, Texas, and departed this life June 21, 1958, at his home near Arnett, Oklahoma at the age of 78 years, 3 months and 17 days.
Quince, as he was known, moved with his family near Earlsboro, Indian Territory in the early 1890s. Later he settled in the Tierce Chapel community in 1905. He resided at his present home for some 50 years.
He was united in marriage to Toma Luella Moorhead on March 19, 1911, and to this union was born three children: Hubert C., Charles L., and Evelyn.
Mr. Tefertiller was engaged in farming and ranching for many years, was active in community affairs, and was an attendant and supporter of the local church. He was a good neighbor, as well as a devoted husband and father.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and one brother.
Surviving are his wife, Toma, of the home; two sons, Hubert of Arnett, Charles of Altus, one daughter, Mrs. Paul Gay of Miami, Oklahoma, one brother, Dempsey of Ft. Bragg, California, 6 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.”
