Tom, I'm hopng You're the same Tom Spencer who did some informative "Pittsylvania Templeton" postings back in 2002.
Included in those posts was reference to a John Templeton & John Welch as witnesses to the will of Samuel Gilbert in Bedford Co., VA on 8/9/1776. There was an implied direct link between this John Templeton & the Pittsylvania Co, Templetons.
My interest in this is the direct link between John Welch's widow & 3 children & a John, Robert & Thomas Templeton in the 1780/90's in the Rocky Creek area of Northern Iredell Co., NC. (Thos. was my 3g grandfather).
John was born ca 1755, Robert ca 1765 & Thomas ca 1770. Did you ever run across any John/Robert/Thomas who may have disappeared from the radar screen up in Pittsylvania Co. in this 1780/90 time frame.
Any help appreciated in my 40 year search for possible (if not probable) roots in Pittsylvania Co. Also, I'm waiting for results of my DNA tests & would love to compare with other Templeton's for possible matches.
