Janis,
For your information, I thought for sometime that there might a relationship between my James Templeton Senior of Iredell County, NC, (was there as early as 1746) and the SC Templetons. I researched the Laurens County Templetons, plus those of York and Spartanburg Counties. My article "Possible North Carolina/South Carolina Templeton Relationships" was published in Volume XXXV, No. 3, Summer 2007 issue of The South Carolina Magazine of Ancestral Research (SCMAR). In that article, I did indicate a possible connection via the initial DNA results of E. O. Templeton and the fact there was a Templeton family in York County prior to the settlement in Laurens County. A David Templeton had land in the York County area as early as 1753. By deed records, he was there in 1765 and 1768. Further, two deed actions (1772 and 1773)show a David Templeton in Spartanburg near the Laurens County border. My DNA results confirm there is a connection. By comparing mine with the one listed for you, we are match - off by three steps, one in each of three markers. Two of the markers are fast mutating, indicating we may be off by only one marker. This gives a high probability our most recent common ancestor (MRCA)occurred within the past 8-10 generations. If you cannot find a copy of my article I would be glad to send you one, plus the published update based on my DNA.
