Hello, Michael! My name is Jennifer.Doris Tener was my great aunt. I remember visiting her and Uncle Max as a child. They lived across the alley from my Grandpa (Hiram) Smith. Uncle Max had two siblings: Uncle Ansel Tener and Mary "Marceline" Tener Smith (my grandmother). Willard Hoover Tener was their father and their mother was Clara Guethlin Tener.
The land that Clara helped her parents homestead is still in the family. You can contact my mother, Sharon Palmgren in Lyons, KS for stories or a visit to the homestead. The Tener homestead was recently "developed" by a corporation, so no traces of its original condition or artifacts can be found. The Rice County Museum has received letters from members of the Tener family that moved back to Ohio, including photocopies of portraits of family members that my mother knew. She has a few other photos herself, but not the same ones.Apparently, the Teners and Guethlins were involved in the community in a variety of ways.Bunn Tener was even elected to the position of Clerk of the County Court. At the Rice County Court House are housed microfilm with his signature on documents.
