Abraham Terhune - Revolutionary War lore
There seems to be confusion in the historical record for 2 Abraham Terhunes. One was son of Albert & Maria and was possibly born Aug 1761.The other was son of Albert and Elizabeth born 6/15/1760.I have a pension document for the latter. However, family records speak to him as a 1st Lt in Capt Van Deventer's company and has conflicting birthdates with the pension document which mentions many Captains under which he served, but does not mention Captain Van Deventer.
If anyone has any knowledge on the subject or would like a treasure hunt, I'd be pleased to share the documents I have and a little more on the case.
It's an interesting subject as one of the Abrahams is rumored to have been in Washington's bodyguard and is supposedly painted into the famous painting of Washington Crossing the Delaware.
