Hello:I have just found my way into this forum and have neen exchanging messages with Janet Newman.I am a descendent of John Bunyan Tarman/Terman (may have been born John H.) b. Maryland 1792, with migrations to Virginia, Muskingum Co. Ohio, and Bartholomew Co., Indiana. He married Ann Jones, and allegedly was in the War of 1812. My main reference is a family genealogy done in 1971 by Arvel Crouch of Indianapolis and three Tearman women from Greenwood, Ind. I am the fourth generation away. From about the second generation on from him, most of my lineage had roots in central-east central Indiana, although I am from Bloomington, in south-central Ind. I could find no Aquilla listed in this genealogy. From what I have learned from Janet Newman there seems to have been a divergence of branches from the Maryland roots;the one she has the most connection with migrated through Pennsylvania to Mansfield, Ohio (my branch was in the Zanesville area) and into northern Indiana. I am no expert in these matters but am eager to learn, particularly solid information about early national and ethnic roots.Scant information suggests Scot-Irish.
