There are two Amelia Terrell’s in the family about the same time.I believe that they are often confused.
Amelia Terrell (1786-1846) m. Thomas Hollingsworth. This Amelia is the daughter of Simon Terrell and Sarah Thompson and this Amelia is buried in the Fairview Presbyterian Church, Lawrenceville, Gwinnett Co., GA.
Simon Terrell and Sarah Thompson’s son, Timothy had a daughter named Amelia (1813-1897).She is buried in the Cave Springs Cemetery, Cave Springs, Missouri and she married David Allan. I believe that she is sister to Thomas Flournoy Terrell b. 1801 Franklin Co. Georgia.Thomas Flournoy Terrell named one of his daughters Amelia as well (so that’s a third Amelia).Thomas Flournoy Terrell is documented through the Daughter’s of the American Revolution based on qualifying criteria through his grandfather, Simon.
David Allan (married Amelia Terrell) is the son of James Allan and Mary Strickland.James Allan married twice (the second time to Hannah Terrell). This Hannah Terrell was the daughter of Simon and Sarah. So, David’s stepmother is also his wife’s Aunt. There were children from both of James’ marriages.David and his siblings from the first marriage (Mary Strickland) contested James’ will which left most everything to the children of his second marriage to Hannah Terrell. They lost and the will stood.
I have not seen TERRELL GENEALOGY by Emma Dicken.I have seen reference that Hannah Terrell and James Allan are in the book.Does anyone know if David Allan and Amelia Terrell are also documented?
Also, does anyone have anything that proves Amelia Terrell (1813-1897) is the daughter of Timothy Terrell (d. 1860) and sister to Thomas Flournoy Terrell b. 1801 Franklin Co. Georgia?
