I am looking for help. I have run into a mystery.
Richard Mason Wattles was born 2 Apr 1841 in Illinois to Hiram Mason Wattles and Sarah Doolittle.
Here are the sources I have so far:
1. 1870 Census, Faribault, Rice, Minnesota, pg 328.
Hiram M, Sally, & Richard M Wattles.
2. California Death Index 1905 - 1929.
3. 1910 Census, 11-Wd Seattle, King, Washington, pg 39B.
Richard M & Murietta E Wattles.
4. 1900 Census, Denver, Arapahoe, Colorado, pg 107A.
Richard N & Henrietta Wattles.
5. 1910 Census, East San Diego, San Diego, California, pg 104A.
Charles D Thompson
Henrietta E Wattles (partner).
6. 1930 Census, San Diego, San Diego, California, pg 38A.
Mrs. Henrietta E Wattles
Charles D Thompson (lodger).
One problem with this info was the California Death Index lists Richard M Wattles deceased 1 Mar 1916/8 (hard to read), but he shows up on the 1920 Census?? and his wife is listed as a widow on the 1920 Census. Oh, Richard lists his marriage to Henrietta as his first marriage.
Now the further problems. OneWorldTree lists Ambrosia Flanders married to Richard Wattles (in the right time frame and place), but Ambrosia is listed as a widow, with two kids. Sources for Ambrosia Flanders Wattles Stout:
Ambrosia Flanders b. 1852 Illinois d.5 Jun 1931 St. Paul, Ramsey, Minnesota

So, did Richard Wattles marry Ambrosia Flanders, then run out on her, later to marry Henrietta? Does anyone have any ideas? Please let me know! Also, I have much more info on the Wattles family, and I am willing to share.
