I am seeking more information on CELIA (TESCHNER) GOLDWATER, b. New York City, April 1860.She m. in New York City, 9 March 1884, MORRIS GOLDWATER, a cigar dealer in Manhattan. He died between 1895 and 1900.In both 1900 and in 1920, Celia Goldwater, widow, is seen in NYC census records. In 1900, she was residing at 166 82nd Street, Manhattan; in 1920, she was at 171 East 81st Street.
Celia (Teschner) Goldwater was the mother of three daughters:
1.LAURA GOLDWATER, b. NYC, January 1885; seen living with her mother in both 1900 and 1920.
2.WILMA GOLDWATER, b. NYC, March 1889; living with mother in 1900.
3.EDNA GOLDWATER, b. NYC, November 1890; living with mother in 1900.
Celia (Goldwater) Teschner (b. 1860) was a first cousin to my great-grandmother, Adella (Teschner) Tauber (1851-1902).Adella's father was Moses Teschner (1820-1879), from Vag Besztercze, Hungary [now Povazska Bystrica, Slovakia] and Celia's father was said to have been Moses' brother or half-brother.Despite some efforts to do so, however, I have been unable to determine the name of Celia's parents.
It is also possible that Celia was the older sister of two other Teschner women who were married in NYC around the same time that Celia was married:
* Laura Teschner, married to an unknown husband, 9 May 1886 (cert. #68812)
* Wilhelmina Teschner, married to an unknown husband, 8 April 1886 (cert. #67790)
I would very much like to communicate with anyone who has knowledge of Celia (Teschner) Goldwater and her family.I am also interested in tracking down any of her present-day descendants.
