My name is Jeffrey David Kelly and I to am a descendant of Urbain Tessier dit Lavigne. This is a well established fact as I have done all my own research and acquired all necessary documentation to prove such. Of this I have no question.
The primary reasons I am posting this message are as follows.
First, to all of you who have been questioning WHO exactly was re-opening or re-pursuing the Tessier dit Lavigne Land Claim in the early 1970's, it was my parents. The reason they have not come forward to say so is because they have been dead for a long time. My father died in 1979 and my mother in 1981. So, that's that with that.
Second, I was just a teenager when they were pursuing this case with their lawyer, so I was not privy to any of the details. Partly because I was not in on all the discussions and because I had no idea what they were talking about half the time being a kid and all. I knew it involved a valuable piece of land in Old Downtown Montreal called the Place d' Armes and that the claim involved the Church of Notre Dame and the Sulpician Fathers as well as the Bank of Montreal I think.
They eventually dropped pursuing the case. I thought it was do to finances. Then my oldest brother told me in the late 1980's that it was because our family was being watched and followed by persons unknown to use. He was the first to notice this as he had just come home from the Vietnam War. He was a very decorated veteran and dealt with these kinds of things in his line of work in the military. I guess we attracted the wrong kind of attention. My brother said my parents dropped the case out of fear for their families safety. They must have really hit a nerve or posed some kind of real threat. Most likely by having the kind of credible documentation necessary to prove their claim.
Unfortuantely, I do not have access to any of their documentation or records on the land claim. My oldest brother has them and he isn't going to give me a copy of them because he knows that I want to re-open the case and he doesn't want me to put his family at risk. I know this is true as he was able to obtain a permit to carry a concealed firearm and was carrying a .45 automatic with him then. Primarily because he knew that I wanted to pursue this case to whatever end it took me. But I have little intimate knowledge and details of the case and no documents to speak of.
Therefore, if anyone can provide me with an accurate history of the land claim and legal case and any amount of records, I would greatly appreciate it. Specifically, records that were actually filed regarding the lawsuit(s) filed in this matter, specifically those filed in the 1920's-30's. I was a paralegal before going into the computer field so I know a bit about legal work.
