Aloha, John Russel, In his "Dictionnaire genealogique des familles du Quebec", Rene Jette has this to say about Urbain: Urbain TESSIER or TEXIER dit LAVIGNE (son of Arthur & Jeanne MEME or MEINE) was from Chateau-en-Anjou (called Chateau-la Vallere today, in the arrondisement and archdiocese of Tours, ancient province of Touraine (Departement of Indre-et-Loire today;)he was buried at Montreal on 21 March 1689 at the age of 70 (take this age with a grain of salt 'cause the ages given by friends/relatives of the deceased in those days were often wrong); in the census of 1666 he gave his age as 42; census of 1667 he gave his age as 40; and in the census of 1681 he said he was 55.(Take your pick, he was born about 1619, or 1624, or 1626 or 1627. If we drop 1619, the most suspect, we could safely say he was born about 1626.) He married Marie ARCHAMBAULT (daughter of Jacques & Francoise TOURAULT) in the City of Quebec on 28 September 1648. They had 16 kids (12 boys and 4 girls), all born in Montreal between 1649 and 1679; 7 boys and 3 girls were known to have married. Urbain's livelihood was wood cutting but you have probably read of his exploits fighting the Iroqouis. I have more on him but I'll have to dig it out of my files.
