Hi Jim,
I'm glad you came in on the conversation and the books will help. I, too , am in St. Louis and the downtown library has a similar set. I lived in Georgia for a few years and haven't checked the county genealogical library, but I assume they do.
You helped me, too, and can more. The east coast connections for those elusive Shoults (Schultz, Shoultz) I found one years ago, referring to George "of Georgia". What is the other reference to a birth on the east coast?
Also, years ago before the STL Historical Society moved the library from the Jefferson Memorial 2nd floor, there was an index card that referred to a (supposedly) referred to a record of Christophe and Barbara's son, Phillipe's marriage and had a note that said "name may have been originally Choulse". The record that the index card was referring to was not there.
At that time the librarian said it was probably misfiled and may turn up later. I never checked the new library on Skinker. Have you? We (myself and the then librarian)talked of it a few times and didn't know if the note was speculating on the signatures or if it was added by the priest?
Anyway thanks,
You can email me direct, but sometimes it is better to put these things out there.
Nan
