This a exceprt of the pension of Robert Pearis a nephew of Richard Pearis the son of George Pearis and Sarah Pepper. - - -States that it has been his fortune from his first arrival at manhood until 1793 to be a resident in the frontier settlements and amongst those who were exposed to the incursions of the Indians: that his own safety and that of his family and his neighbors required of him the most active exertion during a great part of the time. - - -Said he was born in Botetourt County, Virginia October 3, 1750, he remained in Green County, N.C. until 1793 when called into the service from the early part of the year 1780 until the conclusion of the war in 1793, I moved from that county and state to Madison County, Kentucky, now Gerrard County, Kentucky and about ten years afterwards moved to where I now live, in Shelby County, KY.
It seems like the name Botetourt was the common name remembered by people who were born in that area as Samuel Teater recalled his birth place as Botetourt so did Robert Pearis even though it would be decades after Roberts birth before the name was official. Robert made his 2nd home Greene co TN with the Tottens then to Madison KY Garrard. From there he went to Shelby with Robert Teater youngest son of George Teater and his wife Sarah Pearis 99% odds a half indian sister of Robert Pearis fathered by George Pearis.. so actually Richard Pearis older brother George Pearis was there 13 yrs before Richard.
