I'm trying to track down information on the Tetzlaff side of my family tree.My husband and I are expecting our first child and I'm researching heritage for possible baby names. Here's what I know:
My greatgandparents (last name Tetzlaff) immegrated from Germany to Fairwater Wisconsin about 1900 with nine children. The oldest child was named Elizabeth and the youngest was Lillian, who was my maternal grandmother and reportedly "the baby on the boat" (i.e., either born just before they left Germany or in transit).I believe another child may have been named Charles. After the death of my great-grandfather, my great-aunt Lizzie and her husband helped raise my grandmother. There was about 18 years difference between the sisters.
I'm unsure of my greatgranparent's first names but my greatgandfather's name may have been Wilhelm. My greatgrandfather died of asthma in about 1906 and is buried in Fairwater Wisconsin in a small country cemetery alongside his wife.My grandparents (John and Lillian Henke) are in the same cemetery.
I have an old photo of a Tetzlaff family reunion from before WWII, so I think I must still have a bunch of distant relatives in Wisconsin. However, the only second cousins I remember by grandparents talking about are Ward Tetzlaff from somewhere near Ripon and Charles Tetzlaff of Ripon Wisconsin. Both men should be over 80 at least by now.
Please enlighten me if you can.It would be great to know the names of all my great-aunts and uncles at least.
