John 'J.C.' Thacker, 68, of Rogersville, Hawkins Co TN, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, September 28, 2011, at Wellmont Holston Valley Memorial Hospital.
He was a loving husband, father, and papaw. There's nothing he couldn't do. He loved helping people, working in his lawn mower shop, fishing, and gardening. He never met a stranger. He would help anyone in any way he could.
He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
He retired from the Tennessee Eastman Company in 2000.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Dortha Thacker; brothers, Guy Thacker, Herman Thacker, and Alfred Thacker; infant son, John Curtis Thacker; and grandson, Johnathan Earl Lawson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Gladys Thacker, of the home; two daughters, Delois (Leroy) Lawson and Debbie (William) Dalton, all of Rogersville, TN; two grandsons, Toddie Stubblefield and Jesse Dalton; grand- daughter, Emily Ruth Lawson; two stepgrandchildren, Samatha K. and Austin Dalton, of Greeneville, TN; three sisters, Donna (Sammy) Gulley, Francis (Robert) Holt, and Mary (Henry) Gulley, all of Bulls Gap, TN; several nieces and nephews; and a very special loving friend, Martha Gulley, of Bulls Gap, TN.
The family will receive friends at the home of his daughter, Delois Lawson, 306 Byington Road, and from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m., Monday, September 3, 2011, at Christian- Sells Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m., with the Rev. Pat Hammond, the Rev. Ulias Brown, and the Rev. Ed Johnson officiating.
