ALBANY, NY -- Carlton Upshur Theimer, 80, formerly of Lowell, MA, died peacefully April 7, 2010, at the home of his daughter, Carla Ann Theimer, in Albany, NY.
Carl was born in Fairfax, VA on February 12, 1930, son of the late Paul Mills Theimer and Lois (Creery) Theimer, and lived in Lowell for many years.
His beloved wife, Irene (Kitchen) Theimer, died on October 6, 1990.
Carl proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, earning the rank of Corporal.
For most of his career, Carl was employed as a bus driver, mechanic, and garage foreman for several bus companies including Trailways, Wilson Bus Lines, and the Lowell Regional Transit Authority. He loved working with buses and the bus community. After retirement, Carl briefly worked as an elementary school crossing guard in College Station, Texas where he was respected and admired by children and parents alike.
Carl will be remembered most for his kindness, gentle demeanor, generosity of spirit, and tremendous sense of humor.
Above all else, he was a great friend, a loving father, a doting grandfather, and a dedicated family man.
Carl will be sadly missed by four sons: Ronald, Donald, Carlton, and David; two daughters: Rene and Carla; eight grandsons; and many beloved family members and friends.
Relatives and friends are planning to honor and celebrate Carl's life by gathering for a graveside service in Pine Grove Cemetery, Patriots Rd. Templeton, MA on Saturday, June 19, 2010 beginning at 11 AM. After the cemetery everyone will be invited to join the family for a time of fellowship. At Carl's request there are no calling hours.
