My THEIS/THEISS came to PA in 1730 from the Pfalz, and soon changed the spelling of the name to TICE/DEISS/DICE. By the late 1700s they had moved into OH where they took up in many counties. Many of these lines are well established, but I have been trying to connect the lines back in Germany in the many villages around Kusel/Cusel during the period 1580-1900. I have about 300 THEIS/THEISS so far in this area. I know some left in the 1800s because I lose track. I think many likely came to OH. Some came to Washington CO (I now believe). They may have joined up with my earlier bunch. I have a Lubertus THEIS among the unconnected in Germany, could this be your fellow? Do you know where specifically, what village your THEISS came from?
