I have only a little information about that specific family, from Mahala Catherine Best Theiss's obituary. "Mrs. Mahala Theiss, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Best, and wife of Mr. P. F. Theiss, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 1916.She was one of the well known and very highly respected ladies of Beaver twonship and had a wide circle of friends. She was born April 24, 1860, and at her death was aged 55 years, 9 months and 29 days. She is survived by her husband and five children, three girls and two boys and five grandchildren.Interment was made in the Mt. Joy cemetery, the Rev. C. E. Reed officiating on account of the sickness of the Rev. Smith, pastor of Mt. Joy Church." (I believe his name was Peter Frederick Theiss.)
I am a descendent of Mahala Catherine's sister Mary Jane. So far as I know, sister Mary Jane Best was the only family member to move to and work in the oil fields of Texas, after a 30-year stop in Blackford Co., IN.I know a great deal about that line of the family and would be happy to share if the information would be useful.
