Hi Richard, just read your response to the Theiss family of Sublette.Bartholomaeus, his wife Margaretha and six children (Margaretha, Jacob, Joannes/John, Gottfriedus/Godfrey, Maria Catharine and Georgius/George) came to Sublette, Illinois in May 1846 from Oberhilbersheim, Hesse Darmstadt.Bartholmaeus was born in Niederhilbersheim Germany and severed in the 1812 Retreat from Moscow, again with the Prussian army against Napolean in 1813 and again in 1815 at WaterlooNo documentation but among family legend it is thought Petrus Theiss and hie wife Kathren Schhmitt married in May 1780 are the parents of Bartholomaeus.
Petrus Theiss was from Niederhilbersheimm and the records indicate this was where Bartholomaeus was born.Additional legend is that Bartolomaeus had one sister Katharin born 1783 and the mother Kathren died shortly thereafter.Petrus remained a widower and died at age 88.My files consist of the Catholic Baptismal Registers and marriage registers and death registers of some family members originally from Germany, and additional dates on various family members from 1846 to present on Theiss families that are descendants of Bartholomaeus. Also have data on the Theiss Coat of Arms but need family history prior to Petrus Theiss, and if you files contain names, marriages, children in the 1700s would appreciate an exchange of data if applicable for yourself and for my records.Any questions you can e-mail me at [email protected] or [email protected] forward to your response again.
Thank you, Leona.
