Hi Dani, here is the genealogy. Sources are Stephen White and Jean-Guy Poitras. Prudent L. Mercure for historical notes.
Clarence Thériault was the son of:
Patrice Thériault, married on 28-10-1924, with Henriette Doucet, at Ste-Anne NB Canada. Patrice was the son of:
Beloni Thériault, 16-8-1898, Marie Beaupré, St-Basile NB. Beloni was the son of:
Onésime Thériault, 5-7-1869, Sophie Thibodeau, St-Basile NB. Onésime was the son of:
Joseph Thériault V, 18-2-1828, Marie Gendreau, St-Basile NB. Joseph was the son of:
Joseph Thériault IV, 25-6-1799, Anastasie-Euphrosine Levasseur, St-Basile NB. Joseph was the son of:
Joseph Terriot III, 28-4-1768, Madeleine Thibodeau, Rivière St-Jean NB (unspecified location on the river). He had settled on the Hammond river east of St. John NB with a few other Acadians ca 1769. It isn't known if he was living there in 1758 when Col. Robert Monckton came to capture and deport Acadians. In 1769, the Hammond river Acadians built a dike in St. John. These Acadians were cutting trees and taking them to St. John where they were used to make ships' masts. In the spring of 1782 they brought 40 masts to St. John and in the summer they floated 60 more on the kennebecassis river. Joseph seems to have been a colourful character. He had run ins with the missionnary Mathurin Bourg and with Col. Franklin and also with Mr. White all of whom he called "Justices of the Devil"! Joseph moved to the mouth of Rivière-Verte NB. Joseph was the son of:
Joseph Terriot II, ca 1746, Angélique Landry, Rivière-aux-Canards Acadie (now Canning NS). Joseph had been a soldier in a French regiment, which means he had been living on the Beauséjour (French) side of the border. He married a second time and had settled on Sugar island, up river from Fredericton NB. He sold his land to a Loyalist, Frederick de Peyster, and moved to Caraquet NB with the children he had with his second wife. Joseph was the son of:
Joseph Terriot I, ca 1720, Marguerite Melanson, Grand-Prée NS. Joseph was the son of:
Germain Terriot, ca 1685, Anne Richard, Rivière-aux-Canards NS. He moved from Port-Royal to Rivière-aux-Canards. Germain was the son of:
Claude Terriot, ca 1661, Marie-Louise Gaudreau, Port-Royal Acadie (now Annapolis Royal NS). Born in France, he was buried in Port-Royal in 1725. Claude was the son of:
Jehan Theriau, ca 1635, Perrine Rau (Ruau), perhaps from Martaizé, Vienne, France. They settled at Belleisle Marsh up river from Port-Royal ca 1637, Claude inherited their land.
