Quest for Quail Thornell
For a number of years I've been trying to track down a Quail Thornhill, my wife's G-G-G-Uncle who was born in Kildorrery, Co. Cork, Ireland in the 1820s.He migrated to the US in the 1840's.The family has a photograph taken in New Orleans, but nothing more.
Recently I stumbled across a Quail Thornell in the 1880 US Census born in Ireland in 1820 and living with his family in Brockton, Plymouth. MA.It is to much of a coincidence for them not to be one and the same person as the Irish pronounce Thornhill as "Thornell" and Quail is a common Christian name in this branch of the family.
The Quail Thornell which I found was buried, with his wife Joanna Welch, in St Patrick's Cemetery, Court St, Brockton. The Social Security Death Index lists a Quail Thornell who died in April 1975 also in Brockton - probably a grandson born 1892.
Can any of you Thornells help me any further in my quest?I have a lot of family history to share.
