Has anyone asked Karen where she got this information that she put on her pedigree?
I am also descended from John Thornsberry and Susannah Starnes, the parents of Nancy, but I'm descended through their son. There is no family rumor in my family that they were Indian. Additionally, I have their pedigrees back a few generations and show John's ancestry is English Quaker and Susannah's is German. If you visit my pedigree, I just heard from Rachel Tuttle's son last week who told me that Rachel always said she was "part Indian". I am currently researching proof of this.I have found both Thornsberry, Starns, and Meeks on Cherokee Indian rolls. My father and his siblings received some money in the 70's from the sale of Cherokee Land so I think there must be a claim somewhere with their names on it and the lineage to Cherokeeblood. You will see in my pedigree that although Rachel Tuttle does not descend from John Thornsberry, she does descend from his brother George Thornsberry. John and George's parents' English ancestry is also on my website. They were Quakers in the New Garden Monthly Meeting in Guilford Co NC before moving to Kentucky. Nothing there indicates Indian race. There is an Andrew Thornsberry living in Oklahoma in 1909 Guion Miller Roll. And there are Thornsberry's on the Drennen roll that I discovered just last week and intend to write soon for copies of their application papers. Those on the Drennen Roll are descended from a Cherokee whose name meant Blackbird in English.
