I have some information about an relative of mine that came from a old family Bible. His name was Hillard Thrash and he was born in 1814 in Alabama. The following information is from the family Bible
Hillard Thrash rode a mule from Chambers County to Elmore County to accept a job of ferrying salves south, after their arrival from Africa to be auctioned off. This was about 1835.In December 1840, he married Francis McCane. He owned about 1300 acres of land that could be bought for $1.00 an acre, if you would build a home on the land.He had many slaves, one John Letcher, was a blacksmith. He was offered $35.00 for John.
