According to the book Descendants of John Thurman of Virginia by John D. Humphries:
Benjamin Thurman, son of John and Mary Thurman, was born in VA abt 1755, prior to the removal of his parents to Anson Co., NC.Benjamin married Julia Shumate, who died in Chesterfield Co., SC and was buried in the family burying ground near the old Thurman home, which was destroyed by fire.
Benjamin was a Rev. War soldier, and well established planter.He furnished supplies for Continental and militia use 1780-1782.
Benjamin Thurman is supposedly buried in an unmarked grave in Atlanta, north of Capitol Avenue, at the homestead of his son, David.
Benjamin and Julia's children were:

Benjamin was a brother to my 3d gr-grandfather Phillip.
