Dear Thweatt Family Member, I am happy to report that I am almost finished putting the final touches on the website, thanks to lots of text from good 'ol great Uncle Silas Thweatt and his 25 years of research and a few more graphic editions and links to add. First, I am writing as part of the Thweatt Family to inform you of an ambitious project of posting a Thweatt Family Web Site as a central location for lesser known facts of the family (facts I may not be aware of) and to get a presence out there on our family origins. The surname is unusual enough and the lineage is old enough to boasts origins in Denmark as one of the Vikings and later part of the Danes that overtook England during the medieval times.Later on, the Thweatts became some of the very first families to settle in America during the 1600s. Secondly, I write to solicit input from you, as we all have different perspectives and versions of our family origins, and if you do I would like to hear from you. This is going to be a family website and it is going to take lots of input and time on the production of this site. At this point I am not looking to purchase the domain (thweatt.com) at this time, just getting a web presence and a central location for the Thweatt's genealogical heritage to be found as I do not think there is sucha place. Please send me your ideas, thoughts, good links, antidotes, stories, text or pictures that you think may add flavor to the site, if not then your support. I want this to be something we can all be proud of. If interested I will send the link once the site is published so that we could all enjoy.
Third, thereason I am writing is that I was wonderingif you know some Thweatt/Threatt/Threat/Thwaite history past and present, some really great genological sites listing Thweatt/Threatt info, or know of some famous Thweatt/Threatt's (there is bound to be a few out there), these are the "gems" I am looking for, in addition to what is already out there on the web. In addition to being a "collection ofresources, I envision the site to be a place we all can be proud of, and visit often. It helps to know where we came from, and to know where we are going. I ask you to be part of it.
Try this website and see if it pulls up better than the geocites site.(www.geocities.com/thweattfamily). It seems to pull up better than the yahoo/geocites page.
Please check out the yahoo groups for the Thweatt Family if you have not done so already at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/thweattfamily/http://groups.yahoo.com/group/thweattfamily/.The last set of instructions may have been a little confusing. Just go to the link and just take it from there. Thanks. This site is great for large scale networking and message posting, plus file sharing and a place for photos also!!
