Hi, Mary! Yes, I am quite certain that "our" Gabriel is the one you cited as marrying Catherine Patten, his second wife. The source of his father, William comes from the St. Stephen Parish Register, in Northumberland County, Virginia.. and reads as follows: "08 Oct 1771 Gabril Ticer [sic], son of William Ticer & Margit his wife, born (Ibid)."Note from the professional genealogy researcher who did the actual research states, "This is compatible with Gabriel dying 'on or about 12 Jan 1846' at '70 years or thereabout' per Montgomery County, Indiana Probate Order Book 3:243."There are some references to Gabriel having lived for some time in North Carolina, but to date we have not seen any records showing such.
The other sibling I referred to, Gideon, was born 12 Dec 1773, (VCA, p.460).The "pro" notes here also that, "This is consistent with Ohio census records."
From Gabriel, our line goes to William, Andrew, John Henry, Leo, Sharon (my wife). From the notes and records I have seen, no children were born to the union of Catherine Patten and Gabriel.Gabriel purchased farmed land in both Ohio (in the Virginia Military District and in and in Indiana, and several of his grandchildren moved west to Louisa County, Iowa, along the Mississippi River between Burlington and Muscatine.Andrew, moved on to Hardin County, Iowa, where he died and is buried, near the town of Union.Andrew served in the Civil War with a Missouri Engineers unit, as an inventor/craftsman.
