Edward Hanly/Hanley and Ann Tye/Tighe
I am researching my ancestors of Edward Hanly/Hanley and Ann Tye/Tighe both born about 1815 in Ireland (based on their death certificates, but born around 1811(based on the 1841 census). I have located them in the 1841 Birkenhead census with their children Thomas (b1829), Julia(b1831), both born in Ireland and Andrew (b.1832 my GGGF) and Matthew (b.1838) both born in Birkenhead, Cheshire.
Both parents died in 1850 and I have been unable to locate where the children went to. They did not appear in the 1851 or later English census.
Andrew came out to Australia around 1855. I have had no luck in any Australian records.
My thinking is that they went to live with a relative back in Ireland or did they go with their older brother, Thomas or sister, Julie?
As I do not know which County of Ireland they were born or married in. I have hit a brick wall.
Going back years ago I came across a site that suggested Cork, Galway and another county I cannot remember for the name of Hanley (my maiden name),but now I have discovered on the 1841 census it could be Hanly. Would that mean different counties? How can I find out what Counties would have the names of Hanly/Hanley and Tye/Tighe
Now that I have confirmation that Edward and Ann were Irish, how can I go about getting confirmation of their marriage and the children baptism records and if the children went back to Ireland to live with relatives after their parents died in 1850?
Any help will be gratefully appreciated.
