As I was cleaning out my grandparents' home, I found a portrait of a woman. On the back of the frame was the following information:
"Mary Tilotson, daughter of Nancy Woodward Tilitson, cousin of Dorothy Lewis's grandmother. Abt 1840 - 1858."
My grandmother is Dorothy (Lewis) Snow, and her grandmother was Elmina "Minnie" (Woodward) Kenyon.
Minnie was the daughter of Leander Woodward and Almira Hubbard and granddaughter of Ozias Woodward and Nancy Hubbard.
I believe that Nancy (Woodward) Tillotson, wife of Backus Tillotson, was the sister of Leander Woodward and daughter of Ozias Woodward and Nancy Hubbard. This would fit with the statement that Dorothy's grandmother Minnie and Mary were [first] cousins.
The Woodward family moved to Pompey, Onondaga Co., NY, around 1835-1840. Backus Tillotson was enumerated with his wife Nancy and three children in the 1850 Census in Pompey.
