We've recently found documents that verify William Alexander Timms to be a son of Nancy C (possibly Couch) and a much older William Timms.William's first wife was Francis and they had many children together between 1783 and 1820, Francis died in 1824.His second wife was Nancy C and they had three children together Temperance Caroline b1828, William Alexander b1834 and Harriet Ackalan b1836.In 1850 census, Harriet Ackalan and her brother William Alexander lived in Hutson's home along with his wife Sarah Moore Timms and another child Welborn. I suspect this home was William and Nancy's homestead as Hutson and his family were in this home in 1840 also.In the same neighborhood, Nancy C and her second husband, Henry Bagley were found in the home of eldest daughter, Temperance Caroline and her husband William Harrison Jones. Nancy appears to be helping Tempy with the children after a new baby was born.Hutson b1820 was William's son, born before he married Nancy C. about 1827. Timms Family Bible records for William's children are transcribed. This same bible mentions the children of William's #2 (wife) Nancy C.There are two legal documents listing William Alexander Timms as son of the older William. One is when Thomas Timms daughters Harriet Ann and Temperance Jones give back land to William A for $1. It appears that they had held the land in trust, waiting for him to reach legal age for inheritance.Another is when Nancy C Timms gives land to William A, her natural son, who is inheriting the land left to him by his father and her husband William. These two deeds are signed by my Couch/Elrod family and dated the morning that Nancy C Timms married Henry Bagley in 1846, Murray, GA if my memory is correct. We suspect Nancy is a Couch, sister to our oldest grandfather, William Couch b1790 SC.Nancy C Timms Bagley lives her life surrounded by her probable Couch nieces and nephews and is found next door to William Couch in 1880.Hope this helps. If you want to compare notes please contact me and my twin sister Carol and we will share resources in any way we can.Cynthia Couch Rodriguez
