Here is what I have gleaned from census records about this William Tims: William Tims was probably born either in TN or in AL some time between 1822 and 1828.He was in Tishomingo County, MS, as early as 1845 when a William Tims shows up on the 1845 state tax index for that year.By 1850 he is listed with his wife Mary M. and sons Redell G. and John M. in Tishomingo County as a farmer. He arrived in Calhoun County, MS, at some point between 1850 and 1860 since the 1860 tax list records that William Tims paid a poll for one free white male and the tax schedule shows that he did not own any slaves. In the 1860 state census, he is listed as a mechanic withwife Manerva and sons Iredell, John,Daniel, and daughters Irena, Alice, and Pasilla. The 1870 MS census indicates that William is a farmer who has property valued at $315.00 and has personal goods valued at $700.00.Little Pasilla must have died before 1870 since she is not listed in the household then.Children William and Lousinda have been added to the family since 1860 and the other children are listed as Green, John, Annice, Daniel, and Alice.Obviously William Tims, Sr. died in Calhoun County, MS, some time before the 1880 census because his wife Pollie M. is listed as a widow with her two youngest children, William, age 19, and Lousinda, age 17.According to census records, William lived his life in Calhoun County in an area served by the Pittsboro Post Office.
I would appreciate any information that anyone could share on William, his wife Mary Manerva, and his children.Green was in Victoria Co., TX as Robert G. Tims in 1920 at the age of 71.John M. and wife Miry were in Tarrant Co., TX. in 1910.Daniel went to Attala Co.William, Jr. was back and forth between Attala and Calhoun Counties. His second wife was Minnie Wells whom he married in Webster Co. in 1899.Alice married John C. Betterton.Lousinda probably never married since she is listed with her sister Alice in Calhoun Co. in 1910.William, Jr. and his first wife had sons Lonnie, James Frederick (Dock), and Everett Tims. With his second wife Minnie, he had Gladys, Levi, and Birtie. Thanks for any info you might be able to supply on any of these people. Annice
