Did you ever find any info about the son James?I am interested to know if he had a son named James (possibly James Green Tims). I haven't found much info on him but I am hoping he is the father to the James Timms described below:
I am looking for my Timms family. The oldest Timms that I can find that I am related to is James Timms born 25 July 1802 in Charleston, SC.Always known as Jimmy, he was born in South Carolina and moved to west Tennessee when he was twelve. In the year 1814, they reached Memphis, TN, and decided to go on to Manstogwa, NY.Later they came back down the Ohio River through Springfield IL on down to a little place called Cascake IL, some fifty miles from St. Louis. There he lived till after he was married. Then he and his wife Lucy (Mann)went up the old Sucker Indian trail.Indians had need of it for many years.Their ponies would go single file North in the Spring, and South in the Fall.... The biggest battle the Indians gave in Illinois was there in Kelloggs Grove, less than a mile from Jimmy's place.Old Black Hawk himself made that stand and after that there were only a few hit and run attacks. James lived in that area till he died in 1863.His wife was Lucy Mann born 27 Oct 1802 in Cayuga County, New York and died in 1853 in Lena, Stephenson County, Illinois. Her parents were Frederick Mann and Anna Post who were both born in Salem, Vermont and died in Illinois. James and Lucy had 7 children: James Britton, Mary Ann, Susie, Harvey M, William Oscar, Daniel W, and Benjimin Frank.
I am looking for James Timms father and all I know is his name was James.James Sr was a native to South Carolina and was of English decent. His wife died in early womanhood, leaving but one child, James Timms.
Does this sound familiar to any one?It seems that there is a lot of info about Timms from 1870 on and alot of info from 1700-1800, mostly in England. Then there is this big hole in time that I am stuck in.
I have plenty of stories, text and pictures about James Timms and decendants, will share.
