The Charles Tindell you mentioned was born in Knox Co., TN, oldest son of Alfred Tindell and Sarah Gray.I decend from Charles' sister, Martha Ann Elizabeth Tindell. She was my g-grandmother.
I know Alfred and Sarah moved from Knox Co to Jefferson Co where they are supposed to be buried.
There are three Tindell's living in Knox Co at the same time Alfred lived there. One was Samuel who was a generation older that Alfred.Sam's line is easy to find as one of his sons became President of Carson Newman College.Sam and most of his kin are buried and still live in the Knox Co area.
Two other Tindells, Robert and Charles were the same age, same generation, as Alfred, but I have not been able to make a connection to any of them, though I think they were related. Robert and Charles had ajoining farms.
Alfred and Sarah named their first two sons, Charles and Robert, which would lean toward the older Charles and Robert being Alfred's brothers, but Sarah had brothers named Robert and Charles, so maybe not.
So, to answer your question, I have nothing beyond Charles' father Alfred, but I do have additional info on Sarah and Charles siblings.
Sarah was born in 1815, County Antrum, Ireland.Daughter of Samuel Gray and ???.Samuel came to America in 1820, along with his siblings and parents, Archibald Gray and Jane Miller Gray.Jane's brother, James Miller, died in 1819, and left his large farm to Jane Miller Gray in Knox Co., TN.I have a copy of his Will and Administrative Settlement which lists all of their names.
If you are related to Charles, then we are at most 3rd cousins, since our first common ancestor would be Charles and Martha's parents, Alfred and Sarah.
You new Cousin,
Barry
