I live on the Big Island of Hawai'i but, grew up in Oklahoma. While in an area antique shop a couple of years ago; I came across a document that reads:
Department of the Interior Commissioner to the Five Civilized Tribes
Muskogee, Oklahoma May 27, 1913
J. H. Tinney Merchant's National Bank Sallisaw, Oklahoma
There is transmitted herewith my official check number 891978 in your favor for $651.20, representing the amount due your ward, Walter Hamilton Tinney, a minor, out of the funds for equalizations of the allotments of the Cherokee Nation.

Note:My family is Cherokee and whomever this family connects to will understand the document; which is in it's original form.I would be more than happy to send it to the family from which it came.I have no earthly idea how it got to Hawai'i - but, interesting that it did.
