Must confess that I'm stunned. Where I grew up, Tinsley was such a rare name that everyone always tripped over it, pronouncing it as "tinsel" or "tinley" or "kingsley". I'm from the Sarnia-London area of Ontario, Canada; Sean Andrew Tinsley, the son of John A. Tinsley, the son of Andy Tinsley. Incredible, to think that this name was rare, and then to find that it's so widespread. I've heard that there are some Haudenosaunee (Mohawk) Tinsleys around the Grand River area, near the town of Brantford, but I don't know if this is true.
