Q.A.Co.Md. 1755: 10 Oct-Griffin born-Near Susquehanna River in Pennsylvania-information from Pension Claim. Griffin wasprob .in the Del-Mar area, Kent Co., Md. or Delaware. The boundaries have changed. 1755: Griffins parents(Isaac & Miliston) on the Murderkill 100, Kent Co. Delaware tax list-The same area asVanderford families. 1765: Isaac & Daniel on Rowan County Tax list. 1771: Tho. Seward & Massey in Russell Co., Virginia-Turkey Cove. (Uncle or Cousin). 1777: Isaac (Griffins father) is on Rowan Co., N.C. tax list.(possibly from 1765-1783). 1778: Isaac Sowers-300 acres. Rowan Co., N.C. 1779: 20 Aug: Enlisted in the Revolution Army, from Rowan Co., N.C. served as a private. 1781: 20 Oct: Wounded & discharged. 1782: Griffin on tax list for Maryland-Upper district. Taxed as a single man. 1783: Greenbriar Co. Va.-Isaac Sr.-Isaac Jr. & Thomas Sowards. 1783: Griffin on Upper District tax list-Q.A. Co. Md. 1783: Went to Boonsborough, Ky.-per pension claim. 1790: Queen Anne Co.census w/wife-1son-2daughters 1789-1797: Griffin in Monroe Co.Va.(Greenbriar) 1797: Tax list-Lower district, Russell County, Virginia 1791: Rebecca Soward (Griffins sister) m. John Lewis, Greenbriar Co.,Va. 1793: September-Griffin joined Militia in Ohio Territory-South fo Ohio. 1793: Tho.& Esther sold land, Monroe Co.Va.-Dropping Lick Creek.(moved to Sullivan,TN.?) 1798: Isaac Jr. & Rebecca-Deed to land in Greenbriar Co.,Va. 1798: 25 April: Griffin bought land in Russell Co.Va. 1798: Thomas(2) & Griffin (1)-Personal Property tax list-Upper District-Russell Co., Virginia 1799: 14 Jan. Monroe Co.Va.(formed from Greenbriar Co.) Ohio-50 acres.Paint Creek, Jefferson Twp.....Griffinssister(Rebecca & John Lewis) bought 50 acres next to him and sold it to Solomon & Sophia-on 18 June1813. 1813: 22 may-Griffin sold land in Fayette County,Oh.-50 acres. 1814: ? Griffins son Thomas b. in Ohio.(have found several different dates. I would say earlier.) 1814: Griffin on tax list for Fayette County Ohio. ( for 1813?) 1816: 27 June: Griffins daughter Esther married in Wayne County, Ohio. 1817: 2 January: Griffins daughter Miliston m. in Wayne County, Ohio. 1817/18: ? Gallatin County, Illinois. 1819: 5 Feb: Shawnee Town,White Co.Ill.-Land Records-Name spelled Tipscord. 1820: White County, Illinois, Waconteby Twp. 1820: Griffin on Murderkill 100, Kent Co.,Deleware census. 1824: Griffin settled on Wolf Creek, Fayette Co.,ILL.(later Effingham Co. Ill) 1830: Federal Census Fayette County Illinois. 1 m 70-80 1f 50-60 1f 15-20 1832: 10 Oct: Resided Coles County. 1835: 3 March: Resided Coles County. 1835: Loudon Twp., Fayette County, Ill.- State Census 1840: 10 Oct.Griffin purchased 40 acres of land from the goverment in Effingham Co, Ill.-Where the TipswordCemetery is now located. 1840: Fed.Cen.
