Hi all. I have in the past scoured the internet for any clues as to the history of my surname but with little luck. The only thing I ever found was the poem 'The Tocherless Lass'. It was a surprise to find the TEN OAKS Tocher Family in the UK site, great resource. I am wondering if the mention of a Tocher family in the 1881 Census page located in Leith has any relevance to my family. My grandfather was Charles Tocher and my grandmother was Jane. They lived in Leith, but Charles moved from down south so that may blow the connection anyway. I have basically no information because my dad, George James Tocher passed away 2 years ago (he was a Leither). I reside in Dalkeith (Midlothian) and I'm looking for any info anyone may have either about the 'Leith Connection' or were the Tochers' related to any clans and tartans etc.
