Thanks Francesco for the info. I'm very interested in the origins of Todaro. I've heard of the spansih origin and have also been told that it may rooted in Teodoro or Theodore which means "of God".
Could it be that the original Todaro was a religous figure that came to Sicily from Spain?
Lately I've come across a few interesting "Todaro" facts. One in particluar is a tendon in the heart is called the "tendon of todaro".
Finally I want to correct an error in my original post the 2 brothers of my grandfather that I mentioned that lived in New Orleans were Charlie and Frank (not Nick) Todaro. Further there are 2 distinct Todaro families in New Orleans, that I've been told are distantly related.
