Eureka (of sorts)! We are definitely related. I have just found the census records for Alice Clara for 1881 and 1891. In 1891 she is 16, and living with her uncle and aunt James Blackman Reynolds and wife Matilda in Snave, Kent (which is about 2km west from Ivychurch). And in the 1881 census, she is also with the same people, but the census misnames her Alice Clara Thomas - aged 6, his niece... Both confirm birth at Dunton Green, but in 1881 they lived in Folkestone.
The link is through Matilda. She was Matilda Tolhurst, daughter of Thomas Tolhurst and Catharine Cornelius (m. Ivychurch in 1803). My ancestor is the 3rd child and 2nd son of Thomas/Catharine; Matilda is their 12th child. She married James Blackman Reynolds in 1848 in Dymchurch. James and Matilda appear to have had no children - in the 1851 and 1861 census, they are alone, and in Folkestone area.
I cannot yet find out who Alice Clara's parents were - which of the 13 children of Thomas/Catherine she was. The births index confirms she was born between July and September 1874, registered in Sevenoaks district (which includes Dunton Green). I am interested as to how you know her birth date!
