Robert Taliaferro, Jr. "Son of Robert Taliaferro" had a grant of land on the
Rappahannock River, adjoining the land of Henry Corbin & Mr. Grymes which
was due him,..as the grandson of Mr. Grymes.On 1 June, 1687, Robert T.,
Jr. gave bond for the estate of Robert Taliaferro, deceased.
The marriage of Sarah Catlett and Robert Taliaferro, II is proved by Deed,
1687, and Court Record, 25 March, 1692, Essex Co., VA.Wm. & Mary
Quarterly, Vol. 20, p. 266 et seq..."Robert Taliaferro Junior and Francis
Taliaferro, with their wives, Sarah and Elizabeth, sold 300 acres of land in
Essex County in 1687 which was part of the land bequeathed to the said Sarah
and Elizabeth by their father, John Catlett..."In 1688 both Francis and
John Taliaferro gave bond for Mrs. Sarah Taliaferro, widow of their brother

1694, Sarah WINGFIELD, (daughter of John WINGFIELD and Martha __?___) d.
1718, VA.Richard died 1715, Richmond Co., VA, Buried: 1715, Inventory,
Richmond Co., VA, "The Pirate", settled in Richmond Co., VA. Records in
Essex Co., VA, show that he and his brother, Charles, were under age in
1682. Richard died intestate. See George H. S. King's "Marriages of Richmond

v Catherine TALIAFERRO, b. abt. 1668, m. abt.1687,Col.John
BATTAILE, Sr., b. abt. 1658,d. 1 Jan 1708, Caroline Co., VA.Catherine
died abt. 1690.In 1686 Catherine and brother Charles chose their brother
Robert as their guardian.In 1687 a deed shows that Capt. John Battaile,
Sr. married Catherine, daughter of Robert Taliaferro, deceased.There is no
record of any children of Catherine. Wayne Rogers said that Catherine was
born about 1668.Wayne Rogers said that there was one son, John Battaille,
John Battaile was a captain of rangers in active service against the
Indians in 1692.He was a burgess in 1692 and 1696. At the time of his
death he was a colonel of the militia.Many of the records of Caroline Co.,
VA were destroyed.
vi Charles TALIAFERRO, Sr., b. 1670, VA,m. Mary CARTER.Charles
died bef.13 Jan 1735.William Carter Stubbs, Ph.D. listed Charles' death
in 1726.In 1724 Charles lived in Essex Co., VA.Charles left estate to 3
granddaughters, Mary, Sarah, & Catherine Taliaferro, with reversion to
daughter-in-law, Sarah Taliaferro. In 1749 Thomas & Mary (Taliaferro) Turner
and Francis and Sarah (Taliaferro) Conway conveyed the same property by
deed.One of the excrs. to Charles' will was Francis Thornton, husband of
Mary (Taliaferro) Thornton--the sister of John Taliaferro of "Snow Creek"
and a niece of the decedent.
