Hello Hazel, There is a list of the people who were killed in the 1857 Wagon Train to Calif. at this web site: http://www.mtn-meadows-assoc.comhttp://www.mtn-meadows-assoc.com It takes awhile to download the page, then to see a list of the names, click on the "Genealogy" section. I checked and there were Bakers but no Tomberlins.
There is another web site that shows a photo (current day) of the location where the murders occurred. All but 2 of my Cameron family were killed. The 2 remaining Camerons were older daughters and they were not on that wagon train -- one named Malinda who was married to a Miller (she went to California via another route) and her sister Nancy Cameron (my g-g-grandmother) who was married to Hiram Littleton-- and she had stayed behind in Arkansas with her husband & young children. She eventually moved to San Joaquin County, CA, after the Civil War. One other thing -- do you have any Baker ancestors who settled in San Joaquin County or Tulare County, California?I've heard that some of the relatives of these people, and possibly some Bakers, may have settled there. Please keep in touch, Joan
