Michael Tomczak would be my great-grandfathers brother (or my great-uncle).His brother Lawrence was my great-grandfather.The Lucy you are speaking of I think would be a first cousin to my grandfather Louis Tomczak.I have seen Sophia listed but I have never made a connection.Perhaps I have information that you need for your puzzle and vise versa.
Here is what I know......Michael had two brothers and one sister that I know of...... they are Lawrence, Petronella and Antony.Michael arrived on the ship "The Herder" arriving in New York on April 22, 1880 from Hamburg.Born 9/12/1854 in Poznan, Poland, died 4/17/1939 and is buried in an unmarked grave at St. Stanislaus Cemetary in Bay City, MI.He first married Michaeline Kujawa, born 9/11/1858, died 4/15/1901 and is buried in St. Anthony Cemetery in Fisherville, MI.She died of blood poisoning.Michael married 2nd Dorothy (Justa) Witbrodt on 3/4/1903 in St. Stanislaus Church in Bay City, MI.She was the daughter of Martin and Ann (Fraser) Justa.Michael's children were Joseph, Valentine, (your?) Lucy, Cecelia, Mary, Gertrude, Otto, Jack and Stella. The 1894 census records him as having arrived in the U.S. in 1880.It also indicates 9 children born, with 7 living at the time.Their residence is listed as Williams Township, MI.(Polish documents record a November 3, 1878 marriage of Michael Tomczak, age 28, of Drzazgowo, Poland to Michaelina Kujawiaski, age 20, also of Drzazgowo.)
What information do you have on Sophia's family?Do you know how Lucy and Sophia were related?Perhaps you can fill in some blanks for me.
