Delila Tomes was born about 1812. She is buried at the Woosley Cemetery in Butler County, KY. I believe she may have been born in Edmondson County, Kentucky. Delila married William W. Cummins in March 1826. In 1850 this William and Delila were farming in Edmondson County. Delila's mother Sarah Tomes, then aged 59, was living with them. In the 1870 and 1880 censuses, William and Delila were farming in Caneyville, Grayson County, Kentucky. Delila's mother Sarah Tomes (it was spelled Tombs here) was still living, aged 79, in 1870. I have found many Tomes and Toms at the LDS FamilySearch website, but have not been able to determine who was the father of Delila, and the only clue to possible siblings is that in the 1870 census there is a Rebecca Tombs, age 42, also living with Delila and William Cummins. I expect someone out there has the answer, and any help would be greatly appreciated.
