My particular branch of the Tooleys [the descendents of Arthur Bradley Tooley 1867-1957] have been resident in the Sheffield and Leicestershire areas since around the 1860s. ABT was born in Loughborough. Several of his sons, including my grandfather, came to Sheffield either just before or just after WW1. So far as I know there is no connection with the "native" Tooleys of Sheffield. Going further back the Tooley side of ABT seems to come from Lincolnshire, in and around the City. The last event that I have been able to trace by certificates is a marriage at Blankney, Lincs. in 1847. At present I do not have the time to do the research in order to go back further.
