Barbara Ann Tooley was my g g grandmother. Her son Arthur - my g grandfather - must have assumed hi mother's maiden name btween the 1881 census and his marriage in4th November 1884.
John Bradey and BAT were married in Loughborough Parish Churchon 13th July 1870. Arthur Bradley [so named on the certificate - the father's details are blank] was born in Loughborough Union Workhouse on 19th April 1867. There is no conclusive evidence that John Bradley was the father of Arthur.
The 1881 census shows JB and BAT living at 18, Forest Street, Shepshed, Leics. with Arthur Bradley [Tooley] and 6 other children. By 1891 Arthur Tooley was living at New Walk, Shepshed. All Arthur's children are now dead [little surprise in that].
Arthur died in 1957, ir0nically in the Regent Hospital Loughborough which was the successor to Loughborough Union Workhouse, preumably as a geriatric Hospital. He was married for over 70 years and received a telegram from the Queen on his 70th wedding anniversary [1954]
I know very little about the other people you have mentioned or the Canadian connection.
There are others who have posted in this thread who might know more - my interest, thus far, has been with the descendents of Arthur Bradley Tooley.
Please e-mail if I can provide any specific information.
