Douglas:
Continuing this line -- if we discount completely the existence of a Simon Jakob, then does the "Simon Duchmann," who marries Anna, have any links to us?
When do you have Simon marrying Anna?
And one more question concerning our Simon (sans the Jakob): if he is only referred to by the one Christian name, does that mean that possibly his first name was the same as his father's, like Johannes Simon, or some such?I mean, he would have to have a first name -- right? It's just that we don't know it?
I was thinking about our young Colonial lasses marrying young; I figured that back in the 16th century they were kicking the girls out of the house at even a younger age. What's that crude saying?"If they can bleed, they can breed?"Okay, maybe not.
I understand that we just can't assign another wife to Simon -- but it is tempting.
You also mentioned that perhaps Simon had sons named Hans Jacob AND Jacob (and both had daughters named Agnes) -- since first names are often dropped, couldn't the two actually be the same person?Or do you have different birth dates for them?
Thanks.
