Just wanted to make sure you had this obit:
William "Bill" Sinclair Torrance, 75, of Rancho Mirage died January 21, 2004, at home after a long battle with Parkinson's disease and diabetes. He was born on March 18, 1928, to Roscoe and Ruth Torrance of Seattle, Washington. Bill attended the University of Washington for two years, then transferred to UCLA where he received a B.A. degree in Business Administration. He was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. Bill married June Danielson of Bothell, Washington on March 31,1951. He then joined the Marine Corps where he served as a Captain. He flew 103 missions in Korea where he earned the Air Medal and the Distinguished Flying Cross for heroism. Bill sold his first car at the age of fifteen when his career dream was realized. In 1959, Bill moved his family from Seattle to Palm Springs where he founded Palm Springs Motors and went on to be a popular desert car dealer for nearly forty years -- until illness forced his retirement. In his 'hey-day," Bill sold cars to celebrities such as Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, and William Holden. Sinatra ordered a specially painted Mustang from Bill in their shared favorite color -- bright orange. Bill was an award-winning golfer; an excellent tennis player and he played and he played the drums professionally during his college years. He is most remembered for his uncanny wit and charm; passion for movies and music, and his sunny outlook on life despite major health struggles during the past few years. Bill is survived by his three children; Danna Torrance Mongoven of Carlsbad, Robert Torrance of Studio City, and Timothy Torrance of Sherman Oaks; his sister, Shirley Torrance Lincoln of Seattle; his brother, John Torrance of Seattle, and four grandsons. A Public Gathering in Bill's honor will be held this Thurs. January 29, 2004 at the Main Golf Club at Mission Hills Country Club - 34000 Mission Hills Dr., Rancho Mirage, CA., 760-324-9400. The Celebration will begin at 5 p.m. The family suggests donations be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation. Wiefels & Son Funeral Directors Palm Springs, California, Tel. 760/327-1257
